Belfast gears up for a
Summer of Sizzling Events
NORTHERN Ireland has had a spectacular number of years playing host to a range of world-class events, and Tourism Northern Ireland has pledged to keep the momentum going throughout 2015 with lots to look forward to. Already summer in Belfast is looking ship shape with an array of high profile events including The Giro d’Italia Gran Fondo, The Tall Ships Races 2015 and the Guinness Pro 12 Final ... and more.

"We are gearing up for an action packed summer in Belfast with hundreds of thousands of people expected to visit the city to take in one of the many events and festivals taking place" says Tourism Northern Ireland’s Market Manager Fiona Cunningham, "as well as The Giro d’Italia Gran Fondo, The Tall Ships Races 2015 and the Guinness Pro 12 Final, there’s a great selection of arts and music festivals with something for everyone. In addition" she adds "the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open takes place in Newcastle - less than an hour from Belfast, so the city provides a great base for spectators."
So here are some of the big events taking place over the summer:
Saturday May 30: Belfast hosts the 2015 Guinness PRO12 Final at Kingspan Stadium, the same weekend the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open is being hosted by Royal County Down in Newcastle. It will be the first time that the Guinness PRO12 has staged a 'destination final’ providing an opportunity to celebrate the vibrant rugby on show week in week out in the Guinness PRO12 with a festival of rugby taking place throughout the whole city.
May 28 – 31: the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open, hosted by the Rory Foundation takes place, and Belfast is proving a base for the thousands of people attending. Belfast has fourteen courses and golf centres. Close to the city centre are the 18-hole parkland courses of Royal Belfast, Shandon, Malone and Belvoir Park Golf Clubs so there will be lots of choice for enthusiasts.
June 21: following the huge success of the Giro d’Italia in May 2014 the Gran Fondo Giro d’ItaliaNorthern Ireland, aims to create an authentic Giro d’Italia experience with the hope of making it one of the iconic sportives in the world. This cycling event will consist of two routes through Northern Ireland landscapes. Also, Belfast has just launched the Coca-Cola Zero Belfast Bikes - perfect for people to use when exploring and visiting attractions.
July 2 – 5: The Tall Ships Race returns to Belfast with up to 80 magnificent ships anchored in the Belfast harbour and Titanic Quarter areas.

August 15 – 26: Belsonic with acts including Paloma Faith, Stereophonics and Bastille taking to the stage,
August 29: Tennent’s Vital returns with Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding
August 31: Van Morrison will celebrate his 70th birthday in style with a special concert on Cyprus Avenus .
